Hospital Tour inspires support from Kilmarnock Rotary Club

In a generous show of support, the Rotary Club of Kilmarnock has donated £500 to Crosshouse Children’s Fund, to support Ayrshire’s babies and children in hospital.

The motivation behind the donation stems from the exceptional care provided to the granddaughter of one of the Rotary Club’s members at the University Hospital Crosshouse's children's ward. This connection was further strengthened after a presentation by fellow Rotarian and charity trustee, Drew Hughes.

During a recent visit to University Hospital Crosshouse, President George English and member Dr. Robin Magee were given a tour of the children’s ward. They had the opportunity to meet Michelle Dodds, a dedicated Play Specialist, and hear inspiring stories of the young patients who have greatly benefited from activities funded by the charity.

“The tour we received of the children’s ward brought the cause to light. One of our members’ granddaughters required treatment recently, and the Crosshouse Children’s Fund is clearly a very worthy charity to support.”

Kilmarnock Rotary Club, located in the same town as the hospital, is just one of several local Rotary Clubs lending their support to Crosshouse Children’s Fund. Other supportive clubs include Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Irvine, and Hunterston.

“The Rotary slogan is ‘Service above Self. Throughout our history, we have supported causes related to health – such as our campaign to End Polio Now – and this is a continuation of that theme. Before I joined, I had no idea just how many worthy causes are out there needing support. The membership all agreed that Crosshouse Children’s Fund would be a fantastic organisation to support.”
